GRANVILLE — Putnam County Rotary has announced that its annual “Road Apple Bingo” event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Boggios’ Little Mountain Apple Orchard on Route 71 in Granville.
Squares on the grid can be purchased for $10 at Boggios and The Corner Store & Deli in Granville; from any Rotarian; or by ordering on Facebook or online. Players need not be present to win.
A pony will be paraded up, down and across the grid until she selects a $1,000 winner by landing her “road apple” on the winning square. Cash prizes will also be drawn during the event.
The funds raised will help PC Rotary continue vital community service projects despite COVID, including support of two Little Free Pantries in Standard and McNabb, sponsorship of Interact Clubs at PCHS and PCJH, continuation of the third grade Dictionaries Project, Toys in the Pantry, Red Cross blood drives, several PCHS senior scholarships and post-prom Afterglow events when permitted to resume. An added grant project this year will support renovations at Freedom House, the local area residential shelter facility for victims of abuse.
The club also helps support the Putnam County Community Center, the Backpack program and local causes benefiting homeless, youth, seniors and others. On a global scale, the club supports Rotary International efforts in polio eradication; disaster response; health, environment, education and vocational training; water and sanitation; and world peace initiatives.
PC Rotary has continued in strength and commitment despite the COVID-19 pandemic, meeting regularly by Zoom and telephone, and offering the option of attending one monthly meeting in person or remotely as well.
More members and volunteers are needed, however, to continue these vital projects. To join or volunteer, contact PutnamCountyRotary@gmail.com.
