There is one good thing that has come out of this pandemic – spending time with my Yorkshire Terrier Madison Rae. It’s always been me and her over the last 14 ½ years, and every day during the week I’ve left and gone to work as she patiently waits for me to come home. Every day I’d walk through that door to an ecstatic, kissing, barking, tail-wagging puppy. That has occurred over the last 5,000-plus days and it NEVER gets old.
During the beginning of remote working I did notice her staring at me a few times, probably thinking, “What in the heck?” Or, “Hello, are you going to work? You’re getting on my nerves! I like to sleep all day and do my own thing and now you are here, talking to me all the time, taking me for more walks, checking on me often and asking me for even more kisses?” These days we have settled into our new normal and she hangs out in her bed during the day while I work. If I’m lucky she’ll come down to my office to check on me, give me a kiss and then go back to doing her own thing.
She’s such an awesome pup. I think everyone can attest to how much I love her based on how many photographs I take of her. I consistently get comments like: “You post a lot of pictures of your dog.” I just say, “Yep,” or, “I probably could post more.” It reflects what a privilege it is to be part of her world. She always makes everything better. Even more so these days.
