HENRY — The eighth annual Larry Klein Memory Ride and Benefit is being sidelined by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the guidelines for social distancing and the recently announced phases, it is highly unlikely they would be able to have 200-plus people together in August. It takes many weeks to plan stops and secure sponsors, arrange other details, and gather donations for the silent auction and raffle.
It is important to continue to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) so they will be selling shirts. As in past years, they are $20 and have a bit of a unique design this year. For ordering details, visit their Facebook page (Larry Klein Memory Ride & Benefit) or call 309-363-8811.
Monetary donations made payable to AFSP will still be accepted and can be mailed to: Tracy Wright, 110 S. Selby Ave., Ladd, IL 61329. There is also a donation site set up on their Facebook page for secure online giving. Donations are tax-deductible since AFSP is a 501(c)(3) organization.
In the past seven years, this event has raised more than $40,000 for suicide awareness.
