MCNABB — Scott Joseph Malone, 73, of McNabb passed away at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, at his home in McNabb.
Scott was born April 22, 1946, in Spring Valley to Joseph and Gladys (Green) Malone. He married Janet Pease on June 5, 1967, in Sparland. She survives.
Scott dedicated his life to the service of our country, spending 26 years enlisted in the Navy and retired as a master chief in 1991. Scott later worked as a road construction laborer in the Central Illinois area until retiring in 2001.
He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and enjoyed the outdoors and nature. Scott was a member of the Henry American Legion and VFW.
Also surviving are his children, Scott (Samai) Malone II of Fort Bragg, N.C., Lois Daniels of Ridgeville, S.C., and Amy (Matthew) Lee and William (fiancée Terra Presley) Malone, both of Putnam; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sisters, Carolyn Dalrymple of Arkansas, Leona (Jerry) Black of Glasford, Paulette (Charles) Young of Henry and Ollie Malone of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Margaret Durst, Nora Malone and Linda Dalrymple; and one brother, William C. Malone.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, 416 Edward St. in Henry, with Pastor Terry Broady officiating. Burial will follow at the Putnam Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the memorial home.
