HENRY — University of Illinois Extension Marshall-Putnam Master Gardeners, along with Marshall-Putnam 4-H, hosted a “Gathered Treasures” workshop on Dec. 14.
Area youths, parents and grandparents came together to create a gathered treasures centerpiece. Participants learned how to create a beautiful centerpiece out of fresh greens and gathered treasures. Some of the treasures were store bought, and some came from the Master Gardeners’ yards. Marshall-Putnam Master Gardeners Barb Dahlbach and Terry Lueders led the project.
Each family learned about floral arranging concepts and took home a unique centerpiece. The day was free to all who attended. The cost for materials and supplies for the centerpieces was covered by a Thrivent Financial Action Team Grant.
After the families had finished their own creations, they made several to give to local nursing homes. Families also volunteered to deliver the centerpieces.
