SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Hospital received a grant provided by the Walter Durley Boyle Trust to improve the heart and stroke related care to the residents of Putnam County.
This is taking place in numerous way, including community education program (Healthy Heart, Healthy Cooking, after school healthy kids programs, Healthy Kids Summer Camp), CPR training for the students and faculty of the Putnam County School District and public CPR training as well, just to name few.
St. Margaret’s has provided a total of eight additional AEDs to the county, three for the school district and five for the baseball/softball program, so that every diamond utilized for games has an AED on premises. Included with this, CPR and first aid training for any school staff and coaches throughout the county as well as implementing a CPR program for the students of the county will be provided. In addition, St. Margaret’s has been able to purchase some additional equipment for the hospital and education opportunities for the staff that will assist in improving the care we give to patients with stroke and heart related issues.
