SPRING VALLEY — Three hunters whose boat capsized Saturday morning in the Illinois River were rescued safely, according to a news release from the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office.
Bureau County Sheriff Jim Reed stated that at approximately 10:15 a.m. Nov. 2, deputies responded to a report of a boat that flipped over on the Illinois River, near a private hunting club, with three males in the water.
The hunters were able to exit the water and were rescued by a passing boat, Reed stated.
Agencies responding to the scene were the Bureau County Sheriff’s Office, Spring Valley Police Department, Illinois DNR Conservation Police, 10/33 Ambulance, Spring Valley Fire Department, Peru Fire Department and Standard Fire Department.
Reed stated the incident remains under investigation by the Illinois DNR Conservation Police.
