SPRING VALLEY — There will be plenty of celebrity sightings in Spring Valley Friday, Aug. 16.
Flags of Freedom will be hosting a celebrity golf event at Spring Creek Golf Course in Spring Valley, which will bring together Chicago Bears Super Bowl champs, pro wrestlers and pro golfer Scott Phegley.
Registration for the event is 10 a.m., with tee-off time at 11 a.m. Teams will play 18 holes of golf, be served a lunch and dinner, and get to take part in a meet-and-greet with the celebrity guests.
Phegley, a Morton native, is looking forward to the event.
“I’m honored to support Flags of Freedom and play Spring Creek Golf Course along with all of the celebrities. Let’s make some birdies,” he said.
Former Chicago Bear player Jim Morrissey, who was a member of the team that won Super Bowl XX, will also be in attendance.
“This is going to be a fun event, and I look forward to participating in the Flags of Freedom golf outing,” he said.
Pro wrestler Dick the Bruiser Jr. is looking forward to coming back to the area.
He was a familiar face at the annual Rumble For the Kids wrestling events that benefited Princeton Elementary School and said he is happy to be invited back for another good cause.
Pro wrestler Frankie “the Chi-Town Hitman” Wolsfeld has helped coordinate this event, which will help keep the four flags flying along Interstate 80 in Princeton.
“I have attended many charity golf outings over the years. It’s always amazing to see people support a cause they are passionate about,” he said.
“A few years back, I was at a golf outing with Super Bowl Champ Emery Moorehead and he said to me that he really thought it would be great to do a golf outing for the Flags of Freedom. Well, here we are, and I’m sure it will be an excellent time.”
Moorehead will also be a guest of honor at Friday’s event, along with Steve “Mongo” McMichael, Kurt Becker and Otis Wilson, who are all Chicago Bears Super Bowl champs.
Pro Wrestler Kadence Kelli will also be in attendance.
