Freedom House offers Empowerment Program in June

One-day conference aims to help incoming fourth- through ninth-grade students

Freedom House’s annual one-day Empowerment Program for incoming fourth- through ninth-grade students will be offered free this June at eight locations in Putnam, Bureau, Henry, Marshall and Stark counties. This year’s theme is “Embracing Myself for All that I am Worth.”

One of the conferences will take place in Granville on Thursday, June 20, at Putnam County High School from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Additional conferences will take place in Spring Valley on Thursday, June 13, at Hall High School, and in Henry on Tuesday, June 18, at the Marshall-Putnam County Farm Bureau. Those conferences will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The program will provide students with the tools to strengthen self-esteem, set goals and acknowledge boundaries. The program for incoming students in seventh- through ninth-grade will include combating negative self-talk, practicing self-compassion, self-respect, assertiveness, surviving conflict and implementing healthy relationship dynamics.
