OTTAWA — The Illinois Valley Officials Association is hosting a sports officials recruitment meeting at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at Ottawa High School.
There is a significant shortage of officials throughout the state and particularly in north central Illinois and their association is making an effort to reach out to anyone who may have an interest. If you have ever thought about becoming an official in any sport and wondered how to make that happen, this is a meeting you should attend. You will hear from representatives from the Illinois High School Association, officials from all experience levels, athletic directors, school administrators, etc. about the social, financial, and personal benefits of becoming an official. The IVOA will also explain the registration process and how to become a member of a local association who will assist you in mentoring and establishing a schedule. The IVOA hopes that all sports minded individuals take advantage of this opportunity.
