MCNABB — William “Bill” E. Day, 55, of rural McNabb passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Bill was born Oct. 9, 1962, in Spring Valley to Benjamin and Patricia L. (Pletsch) Day.
He graduated from Putnam County High School and continued his education at Illinois Valley Community College, where he majored in baseball, but received a certificate. Bill received his apprenticeship through the electrician union. He was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 197 in Bloomington.
Bill enjoyed baseball, golfing and fishing. He enjoyed being around family and friends. Woodworking was also a passion of his. People close to him knew Bill to always have a wise word, song lyric or John Wayne quote for any situation. His beloved collection of catch phrases were better referred to as “Billyisms".
Survivors include his father, Ben Day of McNabb; one son, Ryan Day of LaSalle; two daughters, Aleigh Day of LaSalle and Sammi Day of LaSalle; and his nephew and nieces of Putnam County.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Day; his paternal grandparents, Olen and Elsie Day; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Sally Pletsch; and one brother, Tony Day.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel in Granville with Father Paul Meismer officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery in McNabb.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home.
